Eastern Rite Divine Liturgy Empty Eastern Rite Divine Liturgy

As I've been learning more about all aspects of our Church, in learning about the Eastern Rites I've been interested in attending Divine Liturgy to further my knowledge etc. My question is, are the Liturgies in English (in the U.S.) or do they use the native language of where their Rite originates? Would be nice to know this ahead of time. Cool

Bill,
Do you know where the nearest one is to Reno? I wouldn't mind checking it out
myself!

Bill,
Almost all of the Eastern Rite Liturgies in the U.S. will be celebrated for the most part in English. Depending on the Rite, some parts of the Divine liturgy might be in the language of that Rite.

If you go to a Ukrainian or Ruthenian parish you would most likely here some Old Slavonic, or if you attend a Melkite or Maronite church you will hear some Arabic.

Thanks, Bill! I might have to make it a point to drive over the hill this summer to check these out! It would be a great experience for the kids!

Yes it will be...and for you too I should say! I'm sure you will anyway, but be sure to explain to them that there will be some slight differences between the Liturgy there and the Liturgy in our Latin Rite Churches that they are used to. And of course, make sure they know that they are not a different Church, just a different tradition within the same Church.
On that note, can anyone else give us some of the differences in the Liturgies of the different Rites? I have some idea of differences, but more knowledge is always better... study
